MN Man Close To Accomplishing Goal Of Walking Around The World

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – To walk around the world seems like an impossible feat, but a Minnesota man is coming close to accomplishing it.

Andrew Siess has completed a good portion of the "North American" leg of his trek, bringing him three-fourths of his way to walking around the globe.

He spent the last four months walking from Alaska to his childhood neighborhood in St. Paul, Minn.

His adventure started two years ago with a mishap as he tried to get overseas.

"We were supposed to go to the Netherlands, then we hit a sperm whale in the middle of the ocean. Then got picked up by a cargo ship and taken to italy," Siess said.

From Italy, he walked through eastern Europe, to China through Asia and eventually got to Alaska.

He mostly camped and said he rarely got a hotel room.

He would play violin to make money.

Prior to his adventure, Siess rode his bike to the very southern tip of Argentina and back.
