Minnesota Man Charged After Car Fatally Hits Wife

MINNETONKA BEACH, Minn. (AP) -- Orono police say a Minnetonka Beach man was drunk when he fatally ran over his wife with his car.

The Hennepin County attorney says David Meder is charged with criminal vehicular homicide or operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more in 57-year-old Diane Meder's death.

The 57-year-old husband tells police he stopped his car when arriving home Thursday and didn't realize his wife had gotten out. He says he then turned and heard her yell that he was running her over. Police say his BAC was 0.155.

Investigators say Diane Meder told paramedics it was an accident. The medical examiner says she died in a Robbinsdale hospital from blunt-force injuries.

A county attorney spokesman told The Associated Press he didn't know whether Meder has an attorney.
