MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The next chapter of the Holidazzle has been announced. After the long-standing Nicollet Mall parade came to a close last year, Minneapolis officials said it was time for something new.
That something new is Holidazzle Village.
The Holidazzle Village will include events, live music and more to kick off the holiday season in Minneapolis. The village will be located on Nicollet Mall from 12th Street to 10th Street. It’s free and open to the public.
Featured at the village is something called Minneapolis Christmas Market — a German-style Christmas market said to be the cornerstone of the Holidazzle Village experience.
Located at Peavey Plaza, the Minneapolis Christmas Market will open Friday, Nov. 28 and continue until Christmas Eve. Included in the market will be more than 30 “huts” with local and international vendors selling holiday gifts, mulled wine, brats, candy and more.
The Minneapolis Christmas Market will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a tree lighting and other entertainment throughout the season. There will be a small, one-time fee between $3 to $6 to enter the Minneapolis Christmas Market, which will grant season-long access.
Holidazzle Village will be open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Friday after Thanksgiving and on weekends through December. Throughout the season, there will be all-age activities, nightly choir and band performances, live reindeer, photo opportunities and more.
Special events like winter fireworks, an interactive dog sled exhibit, glass blowing demonstrations and a pop-up ice rink will take place on certain weekends at the village.
