Macy's To Open At 6 P.M. Thanksgiving Night

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Macy's workers will have to cut their Thanksgiving Day celebration a bit short this year.

The retailer is set to open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving -- that's two hours earlier than last year.

Executives sent out an email to workers notifying them of the early shopping holiday.

Several people then posted the notice online.

The retailer is hoping to get a jump on Black Friday shopping that in recent years has started Thanksgiving evening.

Macy's is the first major retailer to officially announce its Thanksgiving Day hours.
