Police: Man Arrested For DWI After Monticello Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police believe a man who they say caused a crash in Monticello Township over the weekend was driving while intoxicated and without a valid license.

The crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening along County Road 39 near Aetna Avenue Northeast.

Police said that 54-year-old Brian Krautbauer was driving east when he turned in front of a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 42-year-old man from Clearwater, was severely injured and airlifted to North Memorial Hospital. His current condition was not immediately available.

Police say that Krautbauer was driving while intoxicated and driving with a cancelled license. He has been first taken to the Buffalo Hospital to treat minor injuries, and was then booked at Wright County Jail.

Krautbauer's record shows a number of vehicular citations, including most recently driving while intoxicated, driving with an open bottle, driving after having his license revoked, and failing to stop after an accident involving injuries.
