Redskins Get Into Crash On Way To Vikings Game

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two buses carrying the Washington Redskins got into a crash Sunday morning with a squad car just blocks away from TCF Bank Stadium.

A Redskins spokesperson said no players were injured in the crash, which happened around 8:15 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 94 and Huron Boulevard.

Washington wide receiver Pierre Garçon tweeted a photo Sunday morning, showing a bus with a smashed windshield, emergency personnel, a squad car and a stretcher.

The State Patrol said a Minneapolis squad car was involved in the crash, and an officer suffered minor injuries.

Lt. Eric Roeske with the State Patrol said the crash happened after the squad, which was escorting the team's buses, hit a guardrail and came to a stop. The first team bus braked to avoid hitting the squad, but the second bus rear-end the first one.

Roeske said that some people on the buses suffered minor injuries, but that no one involved in the crash was hospitalized.

The Redskins are slated to take on the Vikings at noon.

The crash remains under investigation.
