12 Years Later, No Answers In Disappearance Of St. John's Student

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Twelve years ago this week, Josh Guimond was a student at St. John's University when he disappeared.

Josh's father, Brian, says Josh was at a dorm room walking back to his dorm when he was last seen. He says the trip couldn't have taken Josh more than 3 minutes.

Brian says the Stearns County Sheriff focused efforts on the Stump Lake at the time.

"I couldn't even get them to put out an Amber Alert out. 'Nope, he's in Stump Lake,'" Brian said.

The family hired the Trident Foundation to search of all three lakes on campus and found no trace of Josh.

"You keep doing what you can," Brian said. "You need an unlimited bank account to get anywhere on this investigation just because of who is involved."

Still, Brian believes St. John's is somehow behind the disappearance.

"The mystery started when hour one, he's in Stump Lake and we're not doing anything else," Brian said. "That was a red flag right off the bat. Let's see. Why do you know he's in Stump Lake and why won't you do anything else if you're wrong?"

A prayer service will be held at Holy Cross church in Maple Lake Monday night. The family hopes the renewed attention will lead to some answers.
