MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The more time preschoolers spend in class, the better they perform in kindergarten.

That’s the finding of a new study by a University of Minnesota researcher.

It found children who attended a full-day preschool program had higher scores of readiness skills, such as language and math.

The children also had better attendance than kids in part-time preschool programs.

“These are really significant findings especially when we know up to about half the children entering kindergarten are not fully ready to benefit from the instruction for k-12,” child development expert Dr. Arthur Reynolds said.
