Police: Lakeville Man Faces Drunk Driving Charges After Rear-Ending Truck

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Lakeville man has been charged with driving while impaired after he allegedly rear-ended a truck last summer.

Jesse Curtis Huber, 36, has been charged with one count of child endangerment and two counts of second-degree impaired driving.

According to the criminal complaint, at 2:13 p.m. on Aug. 22, 2014 Lakeville officers received a call of a personal injury crash.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers saw a black Porsche 911 with significant damage to the front of the car, and an undamaged Ford truck with a trailer attached.

The complaint states that an officer asked the crowds surrounding the accident who the injured party was.

Huber came forward and told police it was his son.

Police said Huber told them he was driving the Porsche with his son as a passenger. He told police he was not paying attention and had rear-ended the truck.

Huber said he had called his fiancé to come get his son, who was bleeding from the nose, to take him to the hospital. He told police he felt his fiancé could respond faster.

The criminal complaint states that the officer believed that Huber called his fiancé before calling police.

During the questioning, the officer observed that Huber had poor balance and bloodshot eyes. He also believed he smelled alcohol on Huber's breath.

The officer asked Huber if he had been drinking and he admitted to having one 12-ounce can of beer earlier that morning.

Huber was given a preliminary breath test, which indicated that his blood-alcohol concentration was above the legal limit.

A later test determined Huber's BAC was .10.

Police said the driver of the truck told them he had been driving westbound on 175th Street when he slowed down to turn north on Jaguar Avenue. He was then hit by Huber from behind.

Neither the driver of the truck nor his passenger was injured.

Police said Huber was convicted of third-degree driving while impaired in June of 2013. He had his son with him then as well.
