MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It was the most diverse graduating class ever at Augsburg College this weekend.

Of the 425 graduates getting diplomas Sunday, 30 percent are people of color. We talked with one student who grew up in Nigeria. He said the diversity on campus helped him see life differently.

“When I was growing up I had a lot of issues, especially medically, so I decided I was going to make an impact in health care because I told myself if I was going to survive that experience I will do something big in health care,” Promise Okeke said.

He was the first college graduate in his family, and his mother traveled to Minneapolis for the first time for the occasion. He’s already been accepted into Harvard’s MBA program.
