Timberwolves To Face Bulls, Raptors In NBA Canada Series

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The NBA announced Monday that the Minnesota Timberwolves will participate in the fourth-annual NBA Canada Series. The team will head north to play two preseason games in Canada.

The Timberwolves will face the Chicago Bulls at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg on Oct. 10. They will also face the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 14 at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. It's part of a four-game series between five NBA teams in Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Winnipeg.

Tickets for the games will go on sale Saturday.

It's the third time the Timberwolves have been part of the NBA Canada Series. They played the Detroit Pistons in 2012 in Winnipeg and in 2013, when they faced the Boston Celtics in Montreal.

There were 12 Canadian players on NBA rosters at the start of the 2014-15 season, and Andrew Wiggins became the first Canadian-born player to win the league's Rookie of the Year Award. Timberwolves forward Anthony Bennett was also the first Canadian-born player to be taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft.
