Father's Day is coming soon. What are you doing to enjoy the day with your dad? Here are some ideas for special events, not necessarily Father's Day-themed, but fun for the whole family.

Take a ride down the St. Croix River while having lunch on a Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tour. The scenery can't be beat, and on the way home, you can stop at the Franconia Sculpture Park and let the kids blow off steam while admiring the sculptures.

Red Wing hosts the Phantoms Motor Club Show on Father's Day. What is a phantom car? It's a car that never was, one which has been modified to resemble one which might have been.

Tater Daze in Brooklyn Park goes on all weekend, and Sunday's events lots of live music, a petting zoo, carnival, baseball tournament, lots of food, and kid's activities.

Take a day trip (or spend the weekend) to Lanesboro and attend Art in the Park, an annual Father's Day event. Artists, music, food, and if you have the time, go exploring along the Root River, either by renting kayaks or bicycles.

Winona's Steamboat Days runs all weekend and has several activities on Sunday, including numerous sports tournaments, a parade, a BMX bike show, karaoke contest, and fireworks.

Take Dad on a nature walk at Silverwood Park, which offers a guided nature walk Sunday afternoon.

The Minnesota Science Museum opens its Big Back Yard Father's Day weekend. Science and mini-golf—perfect.

Elk River's Oliver H. Kelley Farm offers Father's Day Weekend both Saturday and Sunday, with demonstrations of what dads traditionally did on farms back in the day, with some activities hands-on for visitors, as well as treats from the kitchen. Bonus: Dads get in free with their child.

The Minnesota Transportation Museum has Father's Day events both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday, there are all kinds of special events at the museum itself, including storytime, a scavenger hunt, and blacksmith demos and train rides. Sunday, there will be a special brunch outing on board a vintage train during a 90-minute ride (reservations required).
