Another Protest Planned For Dentist Who Killed Lion

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Another protest is planned Friday calling for a Bloomington hunter to be extradited.

Dr. Walter Palmer ignited a storm of controversy by killing beloved Cecil the lion on a hunting trip in Zimbabwe in July. Cecil was a collared research animal.

A protest was held outside Palmer's dental office last month. It's been closed ever since news of the lion hunt went public.

On Friday, the Animal Rights Coalition plans to protest on the 46th Street overpass of 35W in Minneapolis starting at 4 p.m. They're calling for Palmer to be extradited to Zimbabwe to face charges.

Zimbabwean officials say the killing of Cecil the lion was not approved. They say they're working to have Palmer extradited.

Palmer has not been charged with a crime. Through a statement, Palmer has said he thought the hunt was legal.
