MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Gov. Mark Dayton and the Mexico Secretary of Foreign Affairs completed an important trade mission by signing five new agreements Tuesday.
The Governor’s office says the five memorandums of understanding will improve educational connections between Mexico and Minnesota – and support women in agriculture and business.
The trade mission underscores just how important Mexico is to Minnesota, according to Katie Clark Sieben, who is the commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
“Our exports to Mexico are up a whopping 255 percent over the past 10 years and our sales to Mexico accounted to 42 percent of Minnesota’s total exports between 2013 and 2014,” Sieben said.
