Wis. Officials: Mother, Child Dead After Crash With School Bus

CUMBERLAND, Wis. (WCCO) – Officials in western Wisconsin say a mother and her 3-year-old daughter died Saturday after their car collided with a school bus.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. near Cumberland. The car was going west on County Highway B when it failed to stop for the bus, which was going north on Highway 63.

The bus broadsided the car on the driver's side. When authorities got to the scene, they found the bodies of 29-year-old Tiffany Hostetler, of Rice Lake, and her daughter, Elanora Hutton.

Another child in the car, Marshall Hutton, suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.

The school bus, which was carrying the Spooner High School volleyball team, ended up in a ditch.

The driver, the coaches and the players were able to exit the bus, and several of them were treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
