Hinckley Man Awaiting Charges In Beating Of Girlfriend's 3-Year-Old Son

SANDSTONE, Minn. (WCCO) -- One day before his third birthday, a Pine County boy is on life support.

The child was allegedly severely beaten at the hands of his mother's boyfriend.

Jonathan Michael Loun, 31, of Hinckley, was in jail Wednesday, awaiting charges for abusing the boy who was in his care.

Police say Daunty Sears's mother found the little boy unresponsive Tuesday morning.

He had been in the care of his mom's boyfriend.

Relatives say Daunty suffered severe head trauma.

He was flown to Children's Hospital but has not regained consciousness.

Loun apparently fled the scene shortly after Daunty was discovered by his mother.

Loun was eventually tracked down to a wooded area west of Hinckley where he was found with minor self-inflicted stab wounds.

He was taken into custody and booked in the county jail on probable cause first-degree assault.

Loun has a record of domestic threats and abuse. In 2013, his then girlfriend filed for court protection.

He was back in Pine County District Court in September 2014, when he plead guilty for violating that protective order.
