Fair Attendance Pacing Above Record-Breaking 2014 Tally

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- At the halfway point, the attendance figures for the Minnesota State Fair showed the 12-day event pacing above the record-breaking numbers racked up in 2014.

Even though no day so far this year has broken any single-day records, the overall toll shows that attendance was up just slightly over last year at this point.

The numbers are in part due to very strong attendance on both days of the first weekend -- 188,636 on Saturday and 179,724 on Sunday.

The remainder of the fair will present a steep challenge, though. Last year, the 10th day of the State Fair was the most well-attended day in recorded history, with 252,092 going through the gates.
