Oregon College Gunman Dead In Police Shootout

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Ten people were killed and seven others hurt after a shooting at an Oregon Community College.

Just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, police responded to calls that said there was an active shooter at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, about 175 miles south of Portland.

According to sources, the 26-year-old shooter has been identified as Chris Harper Mercer. He was also killed after exchanging gunfire with police.

On Thursday evening, President Obama expressed sadness and frustration over another mass shooting.

Sources told CBS News that Harper was asking students to state their religion before he began shooting.
