Sheriff: 1 Dead, 2 Seriously Hurt In Benton County Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person was killed and two others, including an 11-year-old boy, were seriously hurt Monday in a three-vehicle crash in central Minnesota, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded at about 5:18 p.m. to the crash on County Road 5, about a quarter mile east of County Road 6. The crash scene was just north of Foley. When officers arrived, a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am being driven by 17-year-old Tessa Fussy was heading westbound on County Road 5 when she had stopped to make a left turn into a residence. Fussy, from Oak Park, was hit from behind while waiting to turn by a 2001 Chevy Malibu being driven by 35-year-old Brandon Bellamy of Blaine.

The Malibu then continued into oncoming traffic and was hit head-on by a 1998 Audi Quattro being driven by 52-year-old Joan Novak from Foley.

Bellamy was pronounced dead at the scene. Novak and her passenger, an 11-year-old boy, were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries. Fussy was treated at the scene.

Authorities say what led up to the crash remains under investigation. The Benton County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Foley Fire Department, North Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol.
