Wilder Foundation VP Picked As Gallaudet University's New President
WASHINGTON (AP) — Gallaudet University has chosen a new president.
Gallaudet University's Board of Trustees announced Friday that it has chosen Roberta "Bobbi" Cordano as the 11th president of the school, which serves deaf and hard of hearing students.
Cordano, who is deaf, is currently the vice president of programs for the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The nonprofit social services organization helps children, families and older adults. It provides mental health services, school success programs, assisted living and day programs, among other services.
Cordano will replace Alan Hurwitz, who has been the head of the school since 2010. Hurwitz is scheduled to retire at the end of the year, and Cordano is expected to take office on Jan. 1.
