Police: Body Found By Kayaker In New Brighton Lake

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are investigating after a recreational kayaker found a body in the water of a lake in New Brighton Monday afternoon.

Authorities responded at about 4:20 p.m. to Rush Lake in New Brighton on a report of a body found. When officers arrived, they spoke with the kayaker, who had been on the lake and told officers they saw a body in the water near some brush.

Police say they don't know the victim's age, race or sex at this time.

Authorities say because of the body's location, the recovery will take place with the assistance of the Ramsey County Water Patrol. A positive identification will be made by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.

Officials with Minnesota Community Policing Services, a group that had been assisting in the search for Henry McCabe, were dispatched to the lake at about 7:20 p.m. McCabe, a Mounds View man, has been missing since Labor Day.

Officials with the group say the location of where the body was found is near one of the locations where searchers were looking for McCabe.
