Peterson Confident He'll Play Sunday, But Will Skip Practice

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson says he's confident he'll play this weekend against the New York Giants despite a sprained left ankle that forced him out for part of the last game.

Peterson didn't practice Wednesday, and was listed on the injury report with a shoulder issue as well, but said he'll be fine Sunday.

The NFL rushing leader was hurt in the second quarter last week against Chicago, returning for six carries in the second half.

Safety Harrison Smith (knee/hamstring), linebacker Anthony Barr (knee) and defensive tackle Linval Joseph (foot) were all limited participants in practice Wednesday. They've each essentially missed the last three games. Smith and Barr started Dec. 6 but got hurt in the first quarter.
