Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter In Deadly Shooting Outside Church

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 20-year-old man accused of murder in an October 2015 shooting outside a north Minneapolis church has pleaded guilty to charges.

Jontrel Marquise Bolden pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the Oct. 14, 2015 shooting death of 19-year-old Elija Larkin outside New Bethel Baptist Church. He also pleaded guilty to felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the incident.

Police say the killing started as an argument between the two after they both stepped off of different city buses. Security camera footage backs up witness statements that Bolden pulled out a handgun and fire about six shots at Larkin. The victim then went inside of the church and collapsed.

Bolden will be sentenced March 28 and is expected to receive 10 years in prison.
