Good Questions: License Plate Tabs, Little Red Porkette & Fires

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's Friday, and that means we are answering some of your Good Questions.

BreAnne from Burnsville wants to know: How does the state decide what color the license plate tabs should be every year?

Driver and Vehicle Services uses five colors for registration stickers: red, gold, blue, green and white. Those colors were chosen because they're easy to see for law enforcement. The colors are rotated every year.

Next year the stickers will be gold.

Denise from Farmington wants to know: Where does the St. Paul Saints' pig live during the season and who takes care of it?

Little Red Porkette is the ball pig for the Saints. The Saints tell us the Hauth family from River Falls, Wisconsin raised him and his predecessors. They bring him to and from the games.

When he's not starring on the field, he enjoys being a normal pig on their farm.

Little Red Porkette's name was chosen out of more than 4,000 names that were submitted to the Saints.

Paul from Chaska wants to know: How is the "percentage of containment" determined with a forest fire?

A wildfire's containment is determined using thermal imaging equipment. Typically, pilots fly over a fire area and take pictures using the technology.

The photos are compared to pictures from the day before. The incident commander then determines the "containment percentage" based on the photos.
