Co. Attorney: Felon Charged With I-94 Drive-By Shootings

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Brooklyn Center man is accused of shooting three people in a car while driving on Interstate 94 in March.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office says Donquarious Grant was charged Wednesday with four counts of drive-by shooting and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The criminal complaint says Grant pulled alongside a car with four people inside on westbound I-94 in the late afternoon of March 12.

He then allegedly fired several shots at the car, hitting the front passenger twice, a rear passenger once and the driver in the hand. A fourth passenger was not injured.

Grant has a prior juvenile robbery conviction from 2009, and has been charged twice and convicted once before for illegally possessing a weapon.

"Other drivers on the freeway were endangered and it is just dumb luck that no one was killed," Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said.

The attorney's office says Grant targeted the vehicle because it contained gang members who had broken off from his gang.

Grant was originally arrested on May 13, and still remains in Hennepin County Jail. His bail was set last month at $200,000.
