Charges: Officer Hurt During Hastings Domestic Dispute

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 37-year-old Hastings man is facing several charges after an officer was hurt while responding to a call of a domestic dispute in late July, according to charges filed Tuesday in Dakota County Court.

Jeramie James Krippner was charged with fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, obstructing the legal process, interference with an emergency call and disorderly conduct in connection with the July 26 incident.

According to a complaint, Hastings police responded to a 911 call of a domestic dispute on the 800 block of 6th Street West. When officers arrived, witnesses say a man identified as Krippner was "going nuts" and had been shouting at his wife about infidelity and yelling at his grandmother. The grandmother went next door and called 911 because Krippner turned off the phones at the residence.

After an investigation and Krippner's actions around officers, they attempted to take Krippner into custody. He refused commands and attempted to go into the kitchen of the home. Officers noticed knives in the sink area. Officers attempted to arrest Krippner, and he fought with them. During the struggle, an officer suffered injuries to the lower leg and left arm.

Several officers eventually were able to take Krippner into custody. If convicted on all charges, Krippner faces more than five years in prison and up to $13,000 in fines.
