Suspect Arrested In Western Wis. Counterfeit Money Scam

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities in western Wisconsin say a suspected was arrested Thursday for passing counterfeit $20 bills to multiple businesses in the town of Boyceville.

The Boyceville Police Department received several complaints on Monday and Tuesday of counterfeit $20 bills being passed in businesses. Authorities investigated executed a search warrant for a person who lives in the Village of Boyceville.

On Thursday, Boyceville police along with Menomonie police and the Dunn County Sheriff's Office executed the search warrant. One suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Dunn County Jail, where the suspect was charged with multiple counts of forgery. Evidence collected showed the suspect was linked to another forgery case in Glenwood City, leading to additional charges in St. Croix County.

Authorities say a large amount of counterfeit bills were seized. Anyone with additional information about the case should contact the Boyceville Police Department at (715) 643-2215.
