Hopkins Native Terrell Sinkfield Hoping For Chance With Vikings

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) -- He's one of many local connections trying to make the Vikings roster.

Terrell Sinkfield went to Hopkins High School. After bouncing around a bit, he's getting his shot in his own neighborhood.

Sinkfield made enough of a name at Northern Iowa that he got a shot with Miami, then the Canadian Football League. This offseason, he came home to the Vikings.

"It's going pretty good. Great learning experience and blessed to be out here with the guys," Sinkfield said.

He literally burst onto the scene coming out of college, it was a pro day at the University of Minnesota. He became legendary, at least for one night.

That's when he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.19 seconds, catching the attention of coaches and giving him a chance in this camp, where it's a lot about his speed.

"Yes indeed, run fast on the gunner. Run past some defenders," Sinkfield said.

He thinks he's prepared for the opportunity by working in the weight room and a little more.

"I did a whole bunch of different things. I tried yoga out, hot yoga just to help out with my core and flexibility," Sinkfield said.

That's right, hot yoga, and not with football types.

"It was a good experience. It was hot yoga so it was kind of tough. Like I saw women and old people in there getting it in. I'm over there dying and I'm supposed to be the football player but it was a good experience," Sinkfield said.

An experience he hopes translates into a role with his home town team.

"This is a great organization, blessed to be here man. It's everything I dreamed of. Even more," Sinkfield said.
