MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — How much do you spend wedding gifts? A new survey shows it depends on your relationship to the bride and groom.

If it is an immediate family member, those polled by RetailMeNot.com say they will spend more — on average $195.

For a friend, the budget is about $89.

If it is a coworker getting married, people spend a little less — an average of $63.

Forty-one percent of invited guests give a gift whether they go to the wedding or not.

ahah-thats not my averaging of giving…too high of a scale… if you shop it right you can make much more affordable…

    Dear author of this article,
I don’t think that you meant to say that only 41% of people who are invited to a wedding give a gift, but that is indeed what you said. I am guessing you meant to say that 41% of people who are invited to a wedding but do not attend, give a gift. As a journalist, you should know better. This is disappointing.
