MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — More and more parents are trying to find toys that do more than just entertain kids during the holidays.

Many parents struggle to find toys that last beyond a day of play — and teach science, technology, engineering and math, or a STEM curriculum. That’s the idea behind the Purdue Engineering Gift Guide.

It lists 100 items that encourage everything from coding to critical thinking.

All of the toys, books and games are reviewed and rated by Purdue’s engineering staff and children and parents.

The toys sell for as little as $3, but most are around $10-$40.
