Could Peterson Hit The Field For The Vikings This Sunday?

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- No one knows if Adrian Peterson can make a big impact if he does return to the Vikings, but he's Adrian Peterson, so you have to follow every move.

He returned to practice this week, with knee brace that looks cumbersome. But he's back -- and that matters. Could he play as soon as Sunday?

"It's my second day of practice," Peterson said. "I'll get back out there tomorrow and see how I feel."

Remember, he was off to a slow start before injury. Mike Zimmer suggests it was because of some changes in the system. Peterson wants to get back on the field to rewrite that story.

"I'm certainly hungry to get out there and help these guys win," Peterson said. "That's why I do it. It's not for yards, or anything like that. It's for the guys in the locker room."

While the goal is to get back into game action, Peterson has done one thing already -- impress his teammates, as they've watched him come back yet again. They say he's got the look on the practice field, and the presence they need.

"He's a huge part of our offense, so having him back is a good thing," Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes said. "Just for the team, period."

When he's right, he's hard to beat on the football field. But if it's another sport...

"We like to bowl on our time off," Vikings running back Matt Asiata said. "Last time we played, I beat him."

For now, it's just wait and see.

"The last two days went pretty smoothly," Peterson said.
