Brooklyn Park Police Officer Dies While On Vacation

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Brooklyn Park Police Department said Wednesday it's mourning the loss of one of its officers.

Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley said Officer Andrew Suerth died Monday unexpectedly while on vacation with his family. Suerth had been with Brooklyn Park police force for 14 years. He had earned several awards, including Officer of the Year in 2014.

He's married to another Brooklyn Park officer, Sara Suerth, and they have two children.
