Arizona, California Cases Push US Tally Of New Virus To 5

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Health officials say the total number of coronavirus cases in the United States is up to five.

The new cases are in Arizona and California.

On Sunday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the newest case was in Maricopa County, Arizona. There is also a confirmed patient in Los Angeles County and Orange County in California.

Two other cases have been previously reported in Everett, Washington, and in Chicago.

It was business as usual Sunday night at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. So far it is not one of the five U.S. airports screening passengers for symptoms of the coronavirus—a decision that would be made by recommendation from the CDC.

"As a mother I don't worry about myself that much but I worry about my daughter who does a lot of international travel," said April Kalbitz, who was traveling to Houston.

The death toll from the coronavirus has risen to at least 80 people in China. More than 2,700 others there are sick.
