St. Paul Police Investigate Deadly Shooting On City's East Side

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul police say a man was shot to death on the city's east side Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 900 block of Forrest Street North in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood at about 1:30 p.m. on a report of a shooting. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Izavier Isaac Olguin, underwent live-saving efforts at the hands of St. Paul firefighters, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are in the midst of their investigation, but say the victim and shooter likely knew each other.

This is the city's 27th homicide of 2020. Police say homicides have increased by 13 percent this year, and reports of shots being fired in the city have increased by 118 percent.
