Peacock Seen Wandering In Champlin Has Returned Home, Police Say

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A peacock that was on the loose in Champlin has returned home.

On Sunday, Champlin police said a peacock was roaming the neighborhood of the 11000 block of Gettysburg Avenue North.

According to Police Chief Ty Schmidt, the peacock belongs to a group home, which is in violation of a city ordinance. The specific group home wasn't named.

Late Monday afternoon the peacock reportedly wandered home on its own. The owner of the bird said she is trying to train the peacock and another peahen to stay in her yard unleashed.

There are no reports of a citation being issued at this time.
