WCCO Saturday Morning Links & Recap (April 4)

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- For many, this weekend is filled with religious significance, with Passover beginning Friday evening and Easter being celebrated by Christians everywhere on Sunday.

As you recall, early this week Natalie Nyhus went in search of the best Easter brunch in the state. Viewers sent her in the direction of Jax Café, the Northeast Minneapolis mainstay that's spanned more than 80 years and three generations of the Kozlak family.

(Also, make sure the help Natalie find the best bookstore in Minnesota by clicking here.)

We've collected a list of the best Easter events in Minnesota, including tons of Easter egg hunts, rolls and even the chance to pet a few baby potbelly pigs. OK, so they're not the traditional bunny rabbits, but you know you're intrigued now.

Speaking of farm babies, we went to the Minnesota Zoo's new exhibit featuring the cutest little bundles of fur and fluff imaginable.

From short stuff to tall drinks of water. They're some of the greatest athletes and entertainers in the world, and Saturday night is your chance to see them. The Harlem Globetrotters are taking on their rivals, the Washington Generals, at Target Center. The shows are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

If you've had your fill of Easter candy (admittedly, that's a big "if"), you can always take Jason DeRusha's culinary advice. This week in DeRusha Eats, Jason took a peek at Cook Saint Paul, which Jason says "is no doubt part of the East Side comeback of Payne Avenue."

Local soul singer Mick Sterling and a 10-piece band are teaming up for the "Elton Songs." The Elton John tribute performance is on Saturday at Pepito's Parkway Theater at 7 p.m.

Finally, this week, Mike's Mix took a tour of the first craft spirits distillery in Minneapolis. Mike Augustyniak went to Du Nord to see how they distill clear liquor from grain custom-grown in Cold Spring.
