MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — St. Paul police say they are looking for the shooter who killed a man Monday evening in the North End neighborhood — the city’s 33rd homicide of 2020.

Officers were called to the 300 block of Larpenteur Avenue East just before 7 p.m. on a report of a shooting, and arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle outside of an ARCO gas station. He later died at the scene. Police says it’s not clear if the man was shot near the gas station, and it’s unknown if he was shot while inside the vehicle.

A road block was placed on Larpenteur Avenue between Rice and Sylvan streets late Monday night. Police urged nearby residents to stay in their homes, and others to say away from the area.

Police say 2020 is the city’s deadliest year in at least a quarter century, and they are one homicide away from breaking a record.
